Editing - HANNAH

Editing our opening

Now that we had met the deadline for the filming and had completed shooting all shots for our storyboard, we now had the task of editing the footage. Firstly we sat down as a group and decided that we would each complete a third of the editing over the next two weeks, and allow two hours each week to meet in the editing suite together and look over our opening so far and discuss the editing decisions we had made individually.

We decided to look over our footage for the first time as a group to discuss any problems we may have with what we had shot. During this time, we realised that in one of our shots, a small part of the camera equipment could be seen in the corner of the frame. To rectify this, we cropped the shot - thus zooming in on the character - so that this could no longer be seen. As this particular shot was filmed out of focus - to give a 'confused' effect' - the slight distortion that came with cropping the shot did not affect the overall look. However if this had been a focused shot then the cropping may have been a problem to the overall ascetics of the opening.
